Signal Convergence, 2026
Donated CD and DVD discs, aluminum, monofilament, reusable cable ties, stainless steel cable, hardware, three custom-built Theremin bases, three Theremin, and speakers with amplifiers.
Signal Convergence is a solo exhibition and large-scale installation at Oklahoma City University’s Nona Jean Hulsey Art Gallery featuring three horn-like sculptural forms constructed from thousands of discarded CDs and DVDs.
In addition to the large-scale installation, five disc fragment pieces are also on exhibit with two wall-hung framed Memory Grids and three small Memory Strata.
The exhibition continues my work with obsolete media, reflective surfaces, and collected remnants of entertainment, memory, and desire. In this installation, the discs operate as both material and metaphor: shimmering surfaces that suggest amplification while complicating clarity, spectacle, and perception.
A special reception and collaborative musical performance will take place Thursday, September 10, from 5-7pm, featuring OCU music faculty. During the performance, the three theremin will send touchless electronic signals through the sculptural horns, redirecting sound toward a shared point of convergence where frequencies meet, overlap, and fracture.
Thank you to Oklahoma City University and the Nona Jean Hulsey Art Gallery for the invitation and support.
Special Thanks to Sophia Keegan-Marie Skaggs for her amazing help, support, and enthusiasm! I would still be in the gallery working today if it hadn’t been for her.
This exhibition includes three new Disc Fragment sculptures
Installation process - this was a six-day on site installation.
