Loop: Ad Infinitum, 2025
Donated CD and DVD discs, aluminum, monofilament, cable ties, ratchet straps, bungee cords, irrigation tubing, hardware, custom-built Theremin case, Theremin, and speakers with amplifiers.

Thanks to the 2025 Art Prize Pitch Night Oklahoma, I am excited to design and install an engaging, large-scale, site-specific sculpture for the Spectrum Theater in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Loop: Ad Infinitum is constructed from donated CDs and DVDs woven together into a horn form suspended from the ceiling. Connected to the horn is an interactive audio component: as audience members approach the black pedestal below and wave their hands above it, invisible sensors trigger sounds that resonate through the sculpture.

The work was inspired in part by the classic Bugs Bunny cartoon gag where Yosemite Sam tries to trap Bugs with a carrot tied to a string under a box. Here, the suspended horn hovers like a baited trap, but instead of capturing anyone, it releases sound. Each gesture produces tones that return again and again, looping endlessly. My large-scale, site-specific works invite audiences to engage directly, often incorporating community contributions of materials and memories. By weaving obsolete media into shimmering forms inspired by spirals, cycles, and science fiction wormholes, I seek to transform personal and digital remnants into shared experiences of wonder, sound, and connection.
