Amplitude, 2015

Amplitude, 2015
Installed in the  South Bend Museum of Art, South Bend, Indiana
Donated CD and DVD discs, Monofilament, Cable ties, Aluminum, Stainless steel cable, and hardware.

Based on my installation of Tesseracts at the 2013 exhibition of Biennial 27 which was juried by Lisa D. Freiman, Senior Curator of Contemporary Art, Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Curatorial Committee of the South Bend Museum of Art commissioned a permanent, site-specific CD installation for the corridor of the Century Center connecting the Warner and Carmichael Galleries.

Similar to my past installations of Dual Wielding, this suspended sculpture has two horns; however, instead of irrigation tubing and ratchet tie downs, this permanent CD installation has an aluminum exoskeleton and is supported by stainless steel cables.

The design of amplitude is site specific and engages audience members from multiple entrances including the second floor windows. A primary feature of its placement is the location of each horn above and directed towards the primary doors of the museum galleries as a sculptural wayfinding experience guiding new visitors to the rest of the museum.

In the making and installation, 2014-2015

This installation is comprised pre-built elements that bolt together on site in order to simplify installation combined with sections of the artwork that were filled in on site to match the specific placement and final dimensions. Special thanks to all the staff, board of directors, and curatorial committee for their support of the design, process, and installation of Amplitude.
